I love plants. My office looks (and feels) like a mini jungle, with every available surface packed with plants, plant lights, a humidifier, and a fan. So I especially enjoyed getting to speak with so many brilliant plant researchers for this story. They are not only learning how to help plants thrive — they are finding ways that crop plants could help solve the climate crisis by sucking up extra carbon and storing it underground. I very much hope this approach succeeds!
