My Trip to a Plasma Physics Conference

My Trip to a Plasma Physics Conference

Back in November, I had one of the best experiences I’ve ever had as an author. I got to meet three physicists I had interviewed about fusion energy during the research for my book, Welcome to the Future! Saskia Mordijck, Arturo Dominguez, and Tammy Ma.

I met them at the annual meeting of the American Physical Society Division of Plasma Physics (APS-DPP). They invited me to the conference as part of their education and outreach efforts. I got my own table at the conference where I signed books for scientists. It was amazing to get to meet so many people who are involved in actually creating the future.

The scientists I had interviewed all signed my copy of the book, because their science is what makes a book like this possible.

I also gave a presentation to a wonderful group of middle school students at The Campus Laboratory School of Carlow University, then the scientists did demos about plasma, electricity, and magnetism. APS-DPP even donated copies of my book so that the students could all take one home. How cool is that?
