I always love getting author copies of a new book! This one is part of a series from ABDO called Science Adventurers. It’s about venturing into the unknown and the thrill of discovery. Of course, most space scientists don’t actually go to space. But they explore from afar via rovers, probes, satellites, telescopes, and more.
This is my favorite quote from the book. This is Sara Seager, an astronomer at MIT, talking about her life’s work searching for exoplanets similar to Earth. Although I have spoken with Seager myself, this quote comes from a wonderful profile by Corey S. Powell in Smithsonian.
“I think I do it because I was a born explorer. I start a project and I get really excited about it, the heart beats faster. I just love what I do.”
Here are all the titles in the series:

- Amazon explorers
- Animal conservationists
- Climate scientists
- Fossil hunters
- Volcanologists
