I write about things that make me say “wow!” And what could be more “wow” than a total solar eclipse?
I chose this occasion to launch a new substack:
On this new substack, I’ll share my writing for young people or anyone who is curious about science, technology, and nature.
Back to the eclipse. We watched it from a rock outcrop at lake Champlain in Vermont. I didn’t take any photos during totality because I just wanted to experience the moment. But I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The purple-gray color of the sky, the magenta sunset, the surreal ring of glowing light. So I decided to paint it from memory.
April 8, 2024 also happened to be my birthday. I’d been waiting since I was a little kid for this extra-special gift from the solar system. And it was totally worth the wait.
